About Me
I have never been one of those people who liked introducing or talking about myself, and dreaded the whole “tell us about yourself” line in school or at gatherings so I am going to try to make this as short and sweet as possible while telling you what you need to know about myself as a therapist
.
It was my grandmother who first told me that I was an “old soul” one who people could feel at home with and talk to and that label stuck. Some of my earliest memories were of people, much older than I, sharing with me their wounding’s, allowing me to glimpse their pain and asking for a witness to their journey. Providing answers seem to come naturally and I am honored to have a different insight into things as empathy is a gift not everyone has. I found that I loved being able to help and comfort where I could and simply be present as a source of strength or hope when the moments presented themselves. As you can imagine NO ONE was surprised when I said this was the career I was going to choose, the passion I was going to sculpt my life around.

After many years of working individuals who were struggling with traumas from their families of origin or other people it became evident that it would be a specialization I would never get enough training around as I love being able to stand in that sacred space with people and empower them with tools to overcome the trauma and live their genuine lives. I have found that the areas I specialize in all relate to each other and build strong foundations for individuals, marriages and families.

I work with people in the following areas: CEN (childhood emotional neglect), Trauma C-PTSD & PTSD), Grief work, everyday stresses and struggles, Anxiety, Bi-Polar and other areas of diagnosis and somatic "body based" work. I also work extensively with individuals who are either highly sensitive or "empathic" themselves. I utilize Cognitive, Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral strategies as well as numerous other type of interventions to gain the best possible outcomes, this interweaving of approaches makes me eclectically based in my approach to therapy.

I believe in a “down to earth” style of therapy, where you are not looked as a case or a diagnostic but as a person who just needs a hand up and some answers to gain the life and clarity they are looking for. I do believe that the true work of therapy happens in between the times we meet so I like to give “homework” so you can get the most out of our work together. Therapy is hard enough without technical jargon or things that make you feel like you are in a college classroom, figuring out what is stopping you or causing your pain is the goal and empowering you to overcome those challenges is my goal and will be the main priority in all session work.

So, there you have it, the short and sweet reasons I do this work, the way I do it and what you can expect from working together. I look forward to answering any questions you may have or setting up a time to sit and chat more about if I am a fit for you. You can reach me either through the chat bar or the email app in contacts. Remember to breathe and take this process one step at a time as you have already taken the hardest step in reaching out, now let's find a way together.
